Raise The Gong thank everyone who was involved in the Palliative Care Upgrade Project - including volunteers, those who donated, staff at Port Kembla Hospital and the patients and families in Palliative Care who assisted in our refurbishment.

Here's what we did!

  • New paint, carpet and blinds;
  • Repairs to the doors to outside area;
  • Removal of all old furniture and equipment;
  • Purchase of new lounge, TV unit, coffee table and soft funishings;
  • Purchase of a large plasma TV, DVD player, wireless headphones, iPod docks and chargers;
  • New kids furniture, bean bags, toys, play mats and storage areas;
  • New pictures and frames for the walls;
  • and a chair for the existing piano.

The upgrade to the Palliative Care Family room at Port Kembla Hospital occurred from the 15th to 20th December 2012. After our fundraising efforts since 2011, and using legacy donations from the late Silvana Cappetta, we have finally completed our goal and improved the facilities, and comfort, of the shared family area at the hospital.

We are thrilled to be able to deliver a refursbished room, in conjunction with Port Kembla Hospital, and make a small difference to the families of those in Palliative Care. The feedback we have received has been excellent, and families are already starting to utilise the new space. In particular our "kids corner" has been very well received.

Thank you to everyone involved in this effort - check out our before and after photos!
